I use this Lavazza Super Crema Espresso Whole Bean Coffee in my Barilla Espresso maker.
It produces a very flavorful fresh cup with good crema reminiscent of a
typical Italian coffee shop. I am definitely an amateur barista, but with these nice beans in hand I was able to really up the quality of my shots.

- A blend of smooth Brazilian coffees, Central American milds and delicate sweet Indonesian varieties.
- Supercrema delivers a velvety crema and a long-lasting taste.
This Lavazza Super Crema Espresso coffee is used in the great majority of Italian households and
restaurants; I think most of the bars use a different brand but some of
the ones I frequented around Florence used Lavazza. I can tell you from
first-hand experience that when you order an espresso in Italy, the
barista doesn't get beans that look black...that only happens at
Starbucks where they don't care about the coffee being bitter because,
as these low-star reviewers prove, a lot of American coffee drinkers
wouldn't know how coffee is supposed to look or taste.
These beans consistently make an espresso that is as good or better than anything I've found commercially in the US (and I'm not going to rant about the coffee beverage that Starbucks sells as espresso and puts in a paper cup).
This bag of espresso beans is definitely more expensive than what you can find in the grocery store (or elsewhere), but this is a case of you get what you pay for. If you like espresso, this is money well spent. What is really wanted is more of a medium roast for good espresso and cappuccino.
This Lavazza Super Crema Espresso Whole Bean Coffee, 2.2-Pound Bag product earned 566 customer reviews and 84% are satisfied (as 06/02/2014). I've used the Lavazza Super Crema in a DeLonghi espresso machine with excellent results. Intense flavor, not burnt or bitter, and with good, three-layer separation of the crema. Recommended.
