Like other people are mentioning the motor is loud, however what they are missing is that the motor has to work very hard to make ice cream. The frozen yogurt that I made is fluffy and divine. The motor will run until your ice cream is ideally thick and creamy. The bucket you will want to soak in water over night before use, and it not only provides a feeling of days gone by but a tightly sealed housing for the ice and rock salt. The quality was FAR better than "premium" brands like Ben and Jerry's and Haagen Dazs, which now use corn syrup and other junky additives which cheapen the flavor . $15 for four quarts of premium organic ice cream is a steal! I loved the looseness of the texture right out of the maker, and it hardened up to a firm yet creamy texture when put in the freezer.

The White Mountain freezer is by far top of the line. Nice wooden bucket and it has a superior paddle. My family has made homemade ice cream since before I was born. We moved from the self crank to the electric after we got older (and weaker). We have always bought White Mountain, they make top quality ice cream makers. This one is great, the canister is tall and thin which allows the ice cream to freeze better. Recommend this freezer to everyone!

Pros:

• Can use your own grassfed organic milk and whatever ingredients you like (gluten-free cookies, fresh banana, etc)
• Makes a variety of recipes flawlessly

Cons:

• Takes up a lot of space and does not store gracefully
• Noisy to run
• Can be a challenge to get the motor seated on the canister properly, which makes it a bit of a pain to check on the ice cream mid-batch

This is heavy, but it is heavy due to the high quality components. I really like the White Mountain Products, and this one is high quality like their other products. It comes with a 5-year warranty, so I'm satisfied it will hold up or any issues will be resolved
